These are smaller sized geckos from the genus Phelsuma, and hail from the islands surrounding Madagascar. They are primarily green in color, with red dotting on their backs and between their eyes and nose. Their common name is derived from the black and white or yellowish stripes starting at their nose and extending down the sides of their bodies to end in front of their hind legs. Many geckos also have brilliant blue tails. While Lined Day Geckos prefer humid, tropical environments, they are extremely adaptable and are often found in man made settlements. Because of this, they are an excellent choice for a novice keeper just starting to keep day geckos.
